他知道谁的纤手放在门闩上,
用不着门儿送她映入眼帘;
他从她卧室的窗看见她的美色,
能比猎鹰的眼睛窥探得更远;
他会守望得像她晚祷那样恒久,
因为她的脸仰望同一的天堂;
通夜消磨在痛苦的相思中,
要听她早晨下楼的脚步声。

He knew whose gentle hand was at the latch,
Before the door had given her to his eyes;
And from her chamber-window he would catch
Her beauty farther than the falcon spies;
And constant as her vespers would he watch,
Because her face was turn’d to the same skies;
And with sick longing all the night outwear,
