Device requirements

The study parameters will also influence the participant profile with regards to device requirements. The following requirements can be derived from the study parameters:

• Devices: The participant must own or have access to the device an app or website should be tested on, or the product that is being tested itself.
• Browsers: If a website is being tested, the participants may be required to use specific browser versions. 
• Screen size: Some studies may require a minimum or maximum screen size for the device that the participants will use for testing.
• Installation of the product under testing: If the participants are not required to already have the software installed on their devices, then the requirement might be that they agree to install it, in order to be eligible to participate in the study.
• Installation of the software required to participate in the study: In remote usability studies, the participants will often be required to install software, such as conferencing software with screen sharing or recording software, depending on the study methodology being used.
