7.4　Process Layo ut

7.4.1　The plan layout of the refining unit in shop shall meet the requirement for matching melting furnace and caster.The refining unit should be located in the area between tapping line of refining and（or）ladle transfer bay and ladle turret.

7.4.2　The refining unit should be off the line and may be in elevated or pit arrangement.The elevated arrangement should be preferred for a new steelmaking shop.

7.4.3　The vacuum pump and feeding system for vacuum refining unit should be arranged in the furnace bay of converter shop or charging bay of EAF shop，or may be located in a separate vacuum pump house nearby the main shop building.The length of vacuum piping should not be more than 40m.

7.4.4　For a refining unit，the location of main equipment and the height and horizontal dimension of its operation platform shall meet the requirement for different operating conditions and equipment maintenance.If two or more refining units are adjacent，the operation platforms should be at the identical level and also shall be connected.The designed uniformly distributed load on the operation platform shall be 10kN/m2.
