Preface
The Minority Photography Talents Training Project is hosted by China Photographers Association and undertaken together by the Education Commission of China Photographers Association and Beijing Photography Correspondence Institute, with subsidies from China Literature and Art Foundation and supports of the Personnel Ministry of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles. As an important initiative to carry out the spirit of art and literature conveyed by the Party Central Committee, the proj ect aims to cultivate the backbones of talents of ethnic minorities by relying on abundant photography resources from China Photographers Association, while promoting cultural and social development in the regions inhabited by ethnic groups, as well as further driving ethnic development and reinforcing national unity.
In January of 2014, the first training session under the project was launched in Beijing. The 10-day session was attended by 50 trainees from all over the country, who are from 17 different ethnic groups, such as Bai, Bouyei, Tibetan, Korean, Dong, Kazakh, Hui, Manchu,Mongol, Miao, Qiang, Tujia, Uyghur, Yao, Yi, Zhuang and Han nationalities.
The students recorded people and events around them, featuring people's daily life, local customs, national development, and ecological civilization etc. These attractive images of vigor and vitality have portrayed the colorful and diverse ethnic life of China in full details. We have hereby arranged the publication of a selection of excellent works in an effort to make it available to more people.
