Lesson 1 Do you still want to get together?你还想聚聚吗?
We have 3 parts in today's lesson:
今天的课程分为3个部分:
In part 1,I'm going to introduce you to the core sentence, and tell you how native speakers use it.In part 2,I'm going to demonstrate how native speakers pronounce this sentence. In part 3,I will explain the expressions included in this sentence, how to use each one,and give more examples.
在第一部分,我将介绍核心句子,并告诉你母语人士如何使用这句话。在第二部分,我将展示母语人士说这句话时如何发音。在第三部分,我会讲解这句话里包括的表达,怎么使用每个表达,并给出更多的例子。
So,let's get started.我们开始吧。
Part 1 Real Life Situation
使用场景
In this part,I will introduce the situation for using the core sentence of the lesson. When I introduce in English, please try hard to picture the situation. Now,try to understand my description.
在这一部分,我将介绍本课关键的使用场景。当我在用全英文介绍的时候,你一定要努力地想象这个画面。接下来,试着理解我的描述。
You made vague plans to meet an old friend of yours this weekend, but you haven't heard from her and want to check to make sure that she hasn't changed her plans. You ask this:
你向一个老朋友发出了一个含糊的邀请,准备周末跟她聚聚。但是你没有收到她的答复。于是,你想跟她确认计划有没有变。你这样问她:
Do you still want to get together?你还想聚聚吗?
Part 2 Pronunciation and intonation
发音讲解
In this part,I will demonstrate and explain the main points in the pronunciation, word by word.I will also show you the correct tone and intonation.
在这一部分,我将逐词示范讲解发音重点,以及说好这句话的正确语气和语调。
Some students can do OK in pronouncing single words, but when they link them together, they can有些同学可以把每个单词的发音读得还不错,但连起来说的时候,
sound strange.
听着就很奇怪了。
To speak English well, apart from correctly pro-nouncing each word, the tone and intonation are ac-tually more important.
要说好英文,除了读准每个单词的发音,其实更重要的是语气和语调。
For example, the phrase "That's great!" When someone first hears it,they would assume it's posi-tive.But once the intonation changes,it would be like "That's great!" and sounds like complaining.
比如: That's great!这句话给大家的第一印象是肯定、积极的。但是一旦它的语调发生了变化,说成了 “That's great!” 就变成了抱怨的意思。
So,in the sentence"Do you still want to get to-gether?",pay attention to the pronunciation of these parts.
在这一句中,注意以下部分的发音:
1.do you
Notice how I blend these two words when I say them fast.
注意我在语速加快后,怎么把两个词连起来读。
2.still
Notice the sound of letter "i" is short, don't say it like "steal".
注意字母 “i” 的发短元音,不要说得像 “steal”。
3.want to=wanna
In spoken English,we usually say "wanna" in-stead of "want to".
在口语中,我们通常说 “wan-na”,而不说 “want to”。
Also, some Chinese students might say "want to",but we don't say want to.We say wan-to,with only one "t" sound.
有的中国同学也可能会说“want to”,把两个 t 都发得很重。但是应该说“wan-to”,只发一个“t”的音。
4.get together
Because there are two "t"s in a row,we don't need to say both.Just say "ge-together".
因为这个词组里有两个 t 连在一起,我们不用两个都发出来。只需要说 “ge-together”。
Now,let's focus on tone and intonation. Also, since the word "still" has important meaning,we need to put a little more stress on it.This is a yes/no question,so it should normally end with a rising tone.
现在,我们重点讲语气和语调。这是一个一般疑问句,所以正常应该以升调结尾。同时,因为 “still”这个词有重要的含义,所以我们需So,now you know how to say this sentence like a native speaker.
要稍微重读它。
现在,你知道怎么像英语母语人士一样说这句话了。
Part 3 My explanation
英文讲解
In this part,I will use only English to explain the key expression, including the appropriate usage, variations and similar expressions, plus practical ex-amples.This is the most essential and valuable part of the lesson,so please listen to me very carefully, recite each example sentence, and try to come up with your own.
在这个部分,我会用全英文去讲解重点表达。包括使用注意事项,以及各种词语变化和拓展句型,还会给出实用例句。这是每一课最精彩,让你收获最多的部分,请你一定认真听讲,熟读每一个例句,并尝试自己写例句。
For less advanced students, you might not un-derstand some of it in the beginning. But it's OK,and you have to keep going. In a few months, you will notice obvious improvement in your English listen-ing.
对于一些基础稍微薄弱的同学,开始可能听不懂,但没关系,一定要坚持。几个月下来,你会发现自己的英语听力水平有明显的进步。
The vocabulary I use is within the 3500 most common words. Using English to explain English is the most effective way for native speakers to learn, and it can also help you learn to think in English.
我使用的词汇都是最基本的3500个高频词汇范围内的。 用英文解释英文,对以英语为母语的人来说,这是最有效的学习方法,同时也能锻炼英文思维。
The first expression we will learn is 我们要学习的第1个表达是
Do you want to ( do something)?你想 (做某事) 吗?
Although this is a very basic expression,it's worth pointing out that this is the most natural way of inviting people to do something together.
虽然这是一个非常简单的表达,但是值得指出的是这句话是邀请别人一起做某件事时,最自然的表达。
# For example
Do you want to go out for a drink after this?你想在这之后去喝一杯吗?
Do you want to come with us?你想跟我们一起来吗?
You can also ask "Would you like to_____?",
你也可以说 “你是否想要_______?” 这个表达稍微正式一些。
The second expression we will learn is 我们要学习的第2个表达是
get together聚一聚
This means to meet and have fun with someone. This can be used by itself as an intransitive verb.
意思是和某人见面,一起做好玩的事情。这个词组本身可以作为不及物动词使用。
# For example
We should get together.我们应该聚聚。
Or you can specify whom you're getting together with.
或者你可以在其后说明你要约出来聚的对象。
For example
I'm getting together with some friends of mine later tonight.
今晚的晚些时候我约了几个朋友出来聚聚。
This phrase is a good casual way to express the idea of meeting with friends. The word "meet" can sound too formal.Or you can specify who you're getting together with.
这个短语是一个很好的非正式表达,意思就是和朋友会面。而用“meet (会面)” 一词,就会显得太正式。或者你可以在其后说明你要约出来聚的对象。
