ZHOU XIANGLIN
As a composer,ZHOU Xianglin,Professor of Composition at Shanghai Conservatory of Music,also serves as a doctoral advisor at the conservatory. He is now Vice Director of Academic Committee,Director of the Dean’s Office and the Admissions Office,Secretary of the Composition Committee. He also serves as Vice Director of Composition Committee of Shanghai Musician Association.
His major works include Caprice(a piano solo that is among Great Piano Works in Contemporary China),Jiang Cheng Zi for baritone and piano,Shuang Sheng Zi for baritone and piano,<Su> for piano and four cellos,<Jumping Strings> for twelve erhus, Ode to the Sun(a large-scale choral symphony),The River Flows East(a symphonic suite composed by Zhou Xianglin and Zhao Guang),Dawn Breaking Over the Sea(a symphonic prelude),Xumen Caprice(a symphonic poem),Warming Mountain in Feburary(a piece of Chinese orchestral music),Hua Yao San Dao Hong(a piece of Chinese orchestral music),Da Jia Ye for Da Liu Zi,Chinese instruments,and orchestra,Dong Meng for orchestra,and Jumping Sound for ZhongRuan,a Chinese instrument,and orchestra, Heaven Horse for ZhongRuan,a Chinese instrument,and orchestra.
He has won the Second Prize in the 18th National Musical Composition(Folk Music category)Competition,the Third Prize in the 13th National Musical Composition (Symphony category)Competition,and received the Shanghai Outstanding Talent Award for Arts,the Second Prize of the Shanghai Teaching Achievement Award,the Third Prize of the He Lvding Foundation Award and the First Prize of the Fu Chengxian Music Memorial Scholarship. Some of his works were recognized as Shanghai Great Composition Projects in Literature and Arts. His works have been performed in Beijing,Shanghai and Tianjin as well as cities in Japan,South Korea and France. His works have also been performed at major music festivals around the world,such as the Shanghai Spring International Music Festival,Shanghai-Taibei Music Festival, China's First
Electronic Music Festival,the 1st Tianjin(China)International Contemporary Music Festival,EXPO 2005 AICHI JAPAN,East Asian Contemporary Music Festival(South Korea)and Lyon Percussion Concert Series.
