Xiamen（Amoy）is well known in both Taiwan and overseas Chinese because of its beautiful scenes, sharing development, and Taiwanese culture. Nonetheless, it is challenged by the lack of regional integration and urban transformation of medium-sized city. In order to expand the space for development, it should makes efforts to realize its urban transformation and industrial upgrading at the same time. Thus, it should enhance the regional integration of Xiamen island and other regions of Xiamen city, the urban integration in Xiamen, Zhangzhou and Quanzhou, as well as a strong radiating capacity in both Fujian province and other provinces in the central region of China.

To this end, the Chinese Central Government should adjust relation between Xiamen's being one of the municipalities with independent planning status and one city of Fujian Province, and authorize it more policy autonomy and independent evaluation. For the sake of breaking all the developmental “bottle-neck”, Xiamen（Amoy）could only promote originality, inspire creativity and encourage innovation.
