Seek A Common Ground on Human Values, Promote the Development of World Peace

——São Paulo Declaration at the Fourth 2016 World Culture Development Forum

In August 27th to 28th 2016, 40 scholars from 7 countries（Philippines, South Korea, Israel, Mexico, the United States, Brazil, China）gather in UNESP and hold a joint discussion on“Peace, Development and Human Common Values”. All scholars present in this forum reach a common ground on world culture development and agree to declare：

In as much as the process of globalization moves forward, new challenges and opportunities arise for all mankind. On one hand, many problems that in the past were confined to the limits of each country have become global problems that require a common understanding and coordinated actions of international cooperation to be faced. Economic and financial crises, environmental problems, epidemics, cyber crimes, wars and terrorism have acquired a dimension that transcends the boundaries of a single country and pose a threat to humanity as a whole. On the other hand, humanity does not arise problems that cannot be resolved. Just as globalization amplifies the problems, but also creates means and opportunities for cooperation, putting all human beings in contact almost instantaneous thanks to the new facilities of communication and transportation. For this cooperation to be effective, it must take place based on a shared set of values, but at the same time take into account national realities, history and culture. This value system should both reflect and represent the basic needs of the whole of humanity, while respecting national and personal interests.

To this end, all scholars present from all over the world specifically make the following proposals based on the established common ground, and make unremitting efforts to put these proposals into practice：

First of all, establish the concept of supremacy of overall human interest. The underlying connotation of this concept is that overall human interest shall override national interests, while the overall human interest lies in the sustainable healthy survival and development of all mankind.

Secondly, improve the global governance, curb the pervasive national supremacy and national egoism, and vigorously facilitate the construction of human common value system.

Thirdly, delve into and properly deal with the relationship between human common value system and national value system, personal value system. With respect to the construction of human common value system, it is mandatory to properly deal with the relationship among different national value systems and among different personal value systems.
